Description
 
  Students in groups, for the feedback perposes, and after a line of sub-activities (watcing Europarliament tv, read facts about EU policy and strategy for the protection of the languages richness, etc.) create their own interactive PPT presentations and play them in the classroom.
 
This is a group/collaborative activity on creative writing/thinking.
 
   This activity is a compination of Inquiry-based learning and Game-based learning activity aims at developing linguistic/verbal and spatial intelligences but can developed and some of the other types of intelligence, such as:
 
  • Interpersonal intelligence: good with communication.

  • Intrapersonal intelligence: good with analyzing things.

Targets
For students to:  
  • Learn and reflect on the variety of languages ​​that exist  in Greece, in Europe and throughout the world.
  • Be Informed  about EU policies on multilingualism and the protection of spoken and official languages..
  • Be witnesses of these policies watching a live meeting of the European Parliament.
  • To express themselves creatively through exploration of the European countries and their culture via images.
  • To work together and use the  new  knowledge, creating collaborative interactive presentations with the use of powerpoint, in order to acquire new skills.
  • To to use Ms Songsmith in one more activity.
 
For teacher to:
  • To bring together students with the linguistic richness of European countries.
  • To motivate students to learn foreign languages.
  • To bring students  into contact with the culture of other European countries.
  • To help students develop a sense of European citizenship.
  • To bring a fresh approach to everyday teaching reality.
  • To motivate students to develop their own original material  the with the use of the  tools that have been taught.
  • To have a feedback about the whole project and give pupils the opportunity to evaluate the it.
  • Through the activity to evaluate pupils' understanding of the importance of  preservation of  Europe's language richness.

Interactive Presentations

Duration 5 hours

 

  2 hours for the presentation of the facts about the  search  greetings in various of the European Union countries and the official languages in the EU,the strategy of the EU for the protection of the languages richness and to watch a European Parliament tv broadcasting via internet. 1 hour for questions preparation, 1 hour for the powerpoint presentation creation and 1 hour for pupils to play with the interactive presentations.
Development pathway
Step 1: Connection to European Day of Languages website for a fast feedback
Step 2: Connection to European Commission website and visit of all the relative to languages policy pages
Step 3: Connection to Europe Parliament website and watching one of their meetings pointing the suriousness of the translating service and the importance of its role.
Step 4: Presentation of the book "United in Diversity" with the help of projector. 
Step 5Presentation of the mouse mischief and its features.
Step 6: Asking pupils to work in groups and using any and as much as they want of the resources were presented to create their own interactive presentations using the powerpoint.
Step 7: Pupils play with other groups presentations in a competion about the European Day of Languages
Step 8: Brainstrorming about other uses of the Ms Mouse Mischief and feedback about the activity.

  • Self evaluation : Self commitment, personal effort and self evaluation of their own work..

  • Team evaluation: Level of collaboration, initiatives taking, assignment of roles in group.

  • Peer evaluation: Evaluation of their classmates' work.
