Description
Pupils are asked to colourize the official logo of the "European Day of Languages" action.
Before the colorizing, the logo decolourized and printed in small pieces in order a giant poster to be created when all the pieces be stuck together. During colorizing and sticking pieces together a line of photos had been shot so as a stop animation movie to be created.
This is an indvidual work activity on creative thinking.

This activity aims at developing linguistic/verbal and spatial intelligences but can developed and some of the other types of intelligence, such as:

Targets
For students to:

Learn and reflect on the variety of languages that exist in Greece, in Europe and throughout the world.

To come to a first contact with the technique of making a movie with the stop animation technique.

Activity 1
Logo Painting
Duration 5 hours
1 hour for the poster preparation, 1 hour for the introduction about the European Day of Languages, 1 hour for sticking and colorizing the poster, 1 hour for the stop animation movie creation and 1 hour for a brainstorming about other uses of the stop animation techic and necessary feedback.
Development pathway
Step 1: Downloading from the European Day of Languages website the logo and inserting it into Windows paint where can be decolorized with the relative tool.
Step 2: Print the original in color on a normal size and the decolorised on poster size (4x4 A4 sheets) with the help of the printer (if it has that option) or with the help of a program like posteriza which is freeware.
Step 3: After we set up the camera on a tripod, we begin to glue together one by one the decolorized A4 sheets and to take a photo each time until the whole poster being ready.
Step 4: Allow students to color the poster while at the same time taking pictures with a frequency of 1 photo every 5 seconds.
Step 5: When students are finished with colorizing, put the poster in the pre-decided space , present the Ms photostory to students and the needed process to be made a stop animation film with the taken photos.
Step 6: Upload the film to a site that gives this feature (the youtube in this case) to get the embed code for the class' website.
Step 7: Brainstrorming about other uses of the Ms Photostory and feedback about the activity and European Day of Language action.
