Description
Students, cut stickers with the motto "talk to me" in different languages and stuck them on the wall . Simultaneously a line of photos were shot during the proccess, in order to be created another stop animation movie with sound on the background.
This is an indvidual work activity on creative thinking.

This activity aims at developing linguistic/verbal and spatial intelligences but can developed and some of the other types of intelligence, such as:

Interpersonal intelligence: good with communication

Intrapersonal intelligence: good with analyzing things
Targets
For students to:

Learn and reflect on the variety of languages that exist in Greece, in Europe and throughout the world.

To realize that in all languages (and cultures) there are common elements.

To exchange opinions and impressions about the different types of writing in different languages (alphabets, letters, etc.)
-
Understand the value of learning foreign languages.

To link the language with the culture of those who speak her.

To come to a first contact with the technique of making a movie with the stop animation technique.

To learn about one more Ms Photostory function (adding sound on the background).
For teacher to:

Activity 2
Talk2me
Duration 4 hours
1 hour for the stickers preparation, 1 hour for cut and stick them on the wall and the discussion about the richness of the spoken languages in Europe, 1 hour for the stop animation movie creation and 1 hour for a brainstorming about other uses of the stop animation techic and necessary feedback.
Development pathway
Step 1: Downloading from the European Day of Languages website all the stickers with the message "Talk to me" in the various languages and the audio file with the greetings in different languages.
Step 2: Insert them into a word document so that can be printed in various sizes because they are all in the same size. Choose if you want to emphasize on some of the languages to make some of the stickers bigger.
Step 3: We show with the projector's help the video with the greetings in various language.
Step 4: Print word sheets on a sticker paper.
Step 5: Spread the printed word sheets to students and ask them if they know what they say and what at language they imagine that they are written. Ask students to try to read them and then using the Bing.com translator to translate from Greek into various languages and hear with the help of relevant offered function .
Step 6: Students cut the stickers and stick them to predetermined position while at the same time take pictures with a frequency of 1 photo every 5 seconds.
Step 7: When students are finished with sticking, present the Ms photostory to students and the needed process to be made a stop animation film with the taken photos and how to add sound on the background.
Step 8: Upload the film to a site that gives this feature (the youtube in this case) to get the embed code for the class' website.
Step 9: Brainstrorming about other uses of the Ms Photostory and feedback about the activity.

Tools and programs
Photo camera, tripod, printer, Windows painting , Ms Word, Bing translator, Ms Photostory, a YouTube account, a PC and a projector (or a smartboard if there is any) .
